Currently, Oleksiy Torokhity is a well-known weightlifting influencer, but before that career kicked off, he was best known as an Olympic Gold Medalist from the 2012 Olympics. Oleksiy is a Ukranian weightlifter, born on May 22nd, 1986, in Zuhres, in the Ukranian part of the Former Soviet Union.
Along with his Olympic title at different times throughout his career, he held both World and European Championship titles. Along with an illustrious career as an athlete, Oleksiy was also a member of the European Weightlifting Federation Executive Committee, Deputy Chairman of the Ukrainian National Olympic Committee Athletes Commission, and Vice-President of the Weightlifting Federation of Ukraine.

Oleksiy started training seriously as a weightlifter in 2000, and after five years, he finally got a spot on Ukraine’s national team. Shortly after he managed that, in fact, just a year later, in 2006, he secured two bronze medals at the European Junior Championships. In 2008, he made his debut at the Olympic Games in Beijing, where he achieved a top-ten placement in his category.
Unfortunately, due to a lack of sponsorship, he was compelled to retire after the Games and assumed that his professional career was over. Thankfully, a few months later, he managed to find a sponsor, allowing him to continue competing. In 2009, he attained Gold in the clean & jerk and silver overall at the European Championships in Bucharest. The following year, in 2010, Oleksiy claimed a silver and bronze at the European Championship in Minsk, and in 2011, he earned a bronze medal at the World Championships in Paris.
His greatest triumph came the next year at the London Olympics, where he clinched a gold medal in the 105 kg category. Throughout his athletic journey, Oleksiy also managed to graduate from the Kharkiv Regional Higher School of Physical Culture with a degree in Physical Education. Additionally, in 2010, he obtained another diploma as an engineer from the Kharkiv Aviation Institute, specializing in “Control systems for flying machines and complexes.” In addition to his numerous accomplishments, Oleksiy annually conducts master classes and seminars on weightlifting worldwide.
Along with his athletic career and his many awards, Oleksiy also managed to start a renowned accessories and sportswear brand, “Warm Body Cold Mind,” and maintains his own personal blog where he imparts his expertise to a global audience. Worldwide to the weightlifting community, Oleksiy is recognized as one of the most popular faces on social media.
